Obituary
After an illness of more than six months, Edward W. Barr passed away at his home, No. 947 Jefferson Street, at 6:30 am yesterday, Jan. 11, 1904. Cause of death was Bright’s disease. Deceased was a native of Des Moines County, and was widely and favorably known. Some time ago when his health began to fail, he began planning a trip in the hope that a change of climate might prove beneficial, but in all human probability, a journey would have given him no relief, while it might have added to his sufferings. Mr. Barr enjoyed the confidence and respect of all who knew him, that is, the majority of the people of the county, as he had formerly led a busy life as a stockman.
Edward W. Barr was born in Des Moines county, March 22, 1850. At the age of twenty-four, he was married to Miss Susan M. Wright, who with one son, Edgar J. W. Barr, survive him. The family moved to the city some seven years ago and soon won many friends here, who sympathize with the widow and her son and who deeply regret the death of the husband and father, who was called home in the very prime of life. Deceased also leaves one brother, Mr. J. W. Barr, or the Iowa Soap Company.
The funeral service will be held from the family residence at 10 am tomorrow (Wednesday) morning. Dr. Sutherland, of whose church Mr. Barr was a consistent member, will conduct services
