Florene Mae Meyerhoff, 79, of Burlington, died at her residence, on Sunday, February 27, 2011. Born on December 6, 1931, in Waverly, Iowa, she was the daughter of Alvin Christian and Amilia Anna Bodecker Meyerhoff. She married Elmer J. Suhr on July 17, 1951, in Readlyn, Iowa. He preceded her in death. She was a homemaker. She enjoyed gardening, cooking, drawing, and painting art work, and family genealogy. She was of the Lutheran faith. She is survived by four sons, Steven (Karen) Suhr of Bellevue, Nebraska, Blaine Alvin Suhr of Austin, Texas, Bernard Suhr of Oelwein, Iowa, and David Charles (Susan) Suhr of Oran, Iowa; eight grandchildren, Billy, Jamie, Sara, Bernie, Amanda, Raymond, James, and Katie; five great-grandchildren, Anna Marie, Alejandro, Hayleigh, William, and Malachai; four brothers, Arlan Meyerhoff of Texas City, Texas, Ken (Mary Ann) Meyerhoff of Marion, Iowa, Lester (Kay) Meyerhoff of Shapleigh, Maine, and Lee Meyerhoff of Bellevue, Nebraska; one sister, Agnes Sabin of Oelwein, Iowa; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, one daughter, Anna Marie Suhr, and one brother, Burton William Meyerhoff. Memorial services for Florene Mae Meyerhoff will be held on Saturday, April 16, 2011, at 2:00 p.m. in Prugh's Chapel, Burlington, Iowa. Pastor Wayne Weissenbuehler will officiate. Interment will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery, Burlington, Iowa. The family will receive friends in Prugh's Chapel one hour prior to the service. A memorial has been established for Lutheran Family Services.
