Shirley A. Hoskins, 83, of Burlington and formerly of Fort Madison, died at 12:15 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 27, 2016, at Great River Hospice House in West
Burlington.
Born July 25, 1933, in Fort Madison, she was the daughter of Hiram and Lula Smith Pickard. She married Earl E. Hoskins April 11, 1953, in Wayland, Mo.
Mrs. Hoskins worked for Trailways. She also was a cook at Fort Madison High School, retiring in 1995.
She was a member of First Christian Church of Burlington.
Besides her husband, survivors include one daughter, Patricia Bandy of Burlington; one son, Earl Hoskins of Keokuk; four grandchildren; eight greatgrandchildren;
two brothers, Duane Pickard and Jerry Pickard, both of Fort Madison; one sister, Mary Ward of Fort Madison; and several nieces and
nephews.
She was preceded in death by one daughter, one greatgranddaughter, two brothers and two sisters.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at First Christian Church in Burlington.
The funeral for Mrs. Hoskins will be at 10 a.m. at the church, with the Rev. David Yonker officiating. Cremation has been accorded.
A memorial has been established. KingLynk Funeral Home & Crematory in Fort Madison is in charge of arrangements.
