Obituary
Robert L. Eggleston, 75, of Burlington, died at 9:47 a.m. Friday, February 6, 2009, at Great River Medical Center Emergency Room. Born September 29, 1933, in Cameron, Missouri, he was the son of Robert and Marie Parton Eggleston. On November 19, 1960, he married Barbara Jorgensen in Calamus, Iowa. Mr. Eggleston was a 1951 graduate of Moline High School. He served in the Air Force from 1951 to 1955. He worked at Eagle Signal in Moline, NASA in Cleveland, Ohio, and then moved to Burlington, Iowa and worked at Winegard for 33 years, retiring in 1999. Mr. Eggleston was a member of Faith Lutheran Church. He enjoyed playing golf, bridge, reading, working crossword puzzles, and walking his dog Goldie. He especially enjoyed watching his children and grandchildren's sporting events and his beloved Cubs and Bears. He was a Webelo Leader and Scout Master from 1973 to 1981 for Pack/Troop 85. Survivors include his wife, Barbara Eggleston of Burlington; two sons, Scott of Burlington and Bryan (Connie) of Center Point; one daughter Kathy (Tim) Boyle of Oskaloosa; six grandchildren, Alysia, Zachary, Taylor, TJ, Collin, Cameron; and one sister, Dorothy Bigham of Moline, and several nieces and nephews. His parents and one brother, William, preceded him in death. Friends may call from 9:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, February 10th, in Lunning Chapel, where the family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. The funeral service for Mr. Eggleston will be Wednesday, February 11th, at 2:00 p.m. in Lunning Chapel. The Rev. Gloria Friedrich will officiate. Inurnment will be at a later date. Memorials have been established for Faith Lutheran Church and the American Cancer Society. According to Mr. Eggleston's wishes, his body will be cremated following the service.
