Obituary
Roger Brenneke, 64, of Burlington died at 6:54 am Sunday, Oct. 15, 2006, at Great River Medical Center, West Burlington.
Born July 22, 1942, in Burlington he was the son of Harold F. and Belle Thompson Brenneke. On May 20, 1967, he married Judith Staley in Kirksville, Mo. They later divorced.
Mr. Brenneke worked in human resources. He worked for the Sunstrand Corporation and Colt Industries in Rockford, Ill. He then worked for Gardiner-Denver Industries in Quincy, Ill. He moved back to Burlington in 1991. He then worked for Montgomery Ward and Nunnikoven Inc. He also was a club steward for Carthage Lake Club. He retired in 2000.
He attended the Burlington school system. He lived with his aunt and uncle, Florence and Wesley Roscum, in his early years. He graduated from Northeast Missouri State University with a bachelor of science degree and graduated from West Illinois University with a master of arts degree. He served with the Navy. He enjoyed golf and the great outdoors.
Survivors include one daughter, Michelle Brenneke of Shaker Heights, Ohio; one brother David Brenneke of West Branch; one sister, Mary Joe Snowden of Burlington; and nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and stepfather.
Visitation will be from 10 to 11 am Wednesday at Prugh’s Chapel, with family meeting friends during that time.
The memorial service for Mr. Brenneke will be at 11 am Wednesday at Prugh’s Chapel, with the Rev. Frank Beaty officiating. Burial will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery.
