Mary E. Clark Smith, 91, of Burlington and formerly of Columbus Junction died at 7:20 a.m. Saturday, March 11, 2017, at Great River Medical Center - Klein Center in West Burlington.
Born July 16, 1925, in Louisa County she was the daughter of Clair and Hazel Stone Clark. On February 14, 1948 she married Russell Smith in Nashua, Iowa. They later divorced.
Mary graduated from Columbus Junction High school in 1943 and then graduated from the Mercy Hospital School of Nursing in 1946.
Mary was an Industrial Registered Nurse at various businesses retiring in 1987. She was of the Methodist faith.
Survivors include three daughters, Vicki L. Stout of Burlington, Teresa J. Zaiser of North Liberty, and Sue E. Long of Stilwell, Oklahoma; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and one great-great-granddaughter; and nieces and nephews.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents, son Bruce, three brothers and one sister.
Private family inurnment will be held in Aspen Grove Cemetery at a later date.
A memorial has been established for Great River Hospice.
According to Mary's wishes, cremation has been entrusted to Lunning Chapel.
