Frank Veit Appel, 2234 S. Main street, died at his home at 10 o'clock this morning, after a year's illness. He was born Nov. 18, 1859 in Bavaria, Germany and came to this county 77 years ago. On Sept. 26, 1882 he was united in marriage to Marie Salzgeber, to which union the following children were born: Walter V. Appel, at home, Mrs. E.L. Lawrence, Los Angeles, Cal., and Mrs. James F. Kammith, of Omaha, Neb. Marie Salzgeber Appel died Feb. 12, 1910. On July 2, 1912, Mr. Appel was united in marriage to Flora J. Ebner, who survives. He was a member of St. Luke Evangelical church; Des Moines Lodge No. 1, Masonic order; the Eastern Star; Fraternal Order of Eagles; Burlington Gymnastic society; Cascade Fishing and Hunting club; Cascade Boating association and the Woodmen of the World. The remains are at Prugh's chapel. Funeral arrangements will be announced later.
