Obituary
William C. Anhalt, a veteran employe of the Burlington route, died at his post yesterday morning. He was at work in the yards when an attack of heart failure ended his activity on earth. he was born near Magdeburg, in Germany, December 20, 1844, and after serving, the Fatherland in the Franco-Prussian war he came to this country in1871, and almost immediately became a resident of Burlington. Soon thereafter he entered the Burlington route service. Here he kept busy forty-five years and won the confidence and esteem of all who noted his work. In 1874 he was carried to Miss Wilhelmina Dorheit, the union proving a truly happy one. Of the eight children who were born to these worthy people, four mourn with the mother, as follows: William F. Anhalt, F.C. Anhalt, Mrs. Ed Wagner and Miss Anna Anhalt. Deceased was a member of the German Military sociey and the St. Lucas church, he will be missed in both organizations as indeed wherever he was known. The funeral will be held from the family home No. 1016 Starr avenue at 4 o'clock Sunday afternoon, with interment in Aspen Grove. Friends are invited to these services.
