Obituary
Ralph R. Butler, 82, formerly of Indianola, died Wednesday, April 13, 2005, at Taylor House Hospice in Des Moines. Born September 1, 1922, in Burlington, he was the son of Clifford and Laura Nelson Butler. Mr. Butler worked 20 years for Silas Mason Co. as a tool design engineer, and also worked with irrigation systems in Nebraska. He was a graduate of Burlington High School, and attended Burlington Junior College for two years. He was a World War Navy veteran. He lived in Yuba City, Calif., for 12 years before moving to Indianola. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Survivors include one son, David Bjorklund of Mesa, Ariz.; four daughters, Susan Piffer of Indianola, Sara Eberlein of Wausau, Wis., Jane Hall of Katy, Texas, and Nancy Rillpack of Mesa; 18 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and two brothers, Russell Butler of Tulsa, Okla., and Bob Butler of Letts. He was preceded in death by his wife, Marilyn Jane. Visitation will be from 6 to 7:30 p.m. today at Overton Funeral Home in Indianola. The funeral for Mr. Butler will be at 7:30 p.m. today at Overton Funeral Home. The graveside service will be at 11:30 a.m. Saturday in Aspen Grove Cemetery. A memorial has been established for Taylor House Hospice in Des Moines.
