Marion Merlyn Anderson, 74, of Burlington died at 6:14 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 24, 2007, at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City. Born March 17, 1932, in Burlington, he was the son of Joseph Robert and Viletta Krekel Anderson. On Nov. 9, 1963, he married Kathryn Ellen Kohlepp in Burlington. He was a 1949 graduate of Burlington High School. He received a chemistry degree from the University of Iowa and a master's degree in agriculture and Ph.D. in animal husbandry from the University of Missouri. He raised Jersey cows. He was a sports fan. He enjoyed researching things on the Internet. He was of the Presbyterian faith. Survivors include his wife; two sons, Scott Anderson and Nathaniel Anderson, both of Burlington; one daughter, Shauna Bagenstos of Branson, Mo.; and five grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents. No formal visitation is planned. Cremation has been accorded. The graveside service for Mr. Anderson will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Aspen Grove Cemetery with the Rev. Steven Parker officiating. Prugh Funeral Home assisted the family with arrangements.
