Obituary
Louis Anderson, 73, retired West Burlington railroad shops employe, died at his home, 406 East Wheeler strett, West Burlington yesterday afternoon. Mr. Anderson retired in 1930 after fifty years in the employ of the railroad. He had been sick about a week before his death.
Born in Sweden, October 6, 1850, Mr. Anderson came to Burlington in 1880 and went to work for the Burlngton railroad as a macinist helper. Two years later he went into the shops at West Burlington and continued as a machinist there until his retirement on October 8, 1930. During his half century at the shops he was never off duty because of ill health and never missed a pay check. Mr. Anderson was married here in 1888 to Emma Enberg, who survives him. In addition to his duties at the railroad shops he served for five years as marshal at West Burlington. He was a member of Immanuel Lutheran church, the I.O.O.F. and M.W.A. lodges, the Court of Honor and the Railroad Veterans association. In addition to his widow he is survived by a son, Roy Anderson of Waco, Texas, who was called here afew days ago when his father became critically ill following a heart attack; a daughter, Mrs. A.F. Gustafson of West Burlington and two grandchildren, Robert and Doris Gustafson.
Funeral services will be held at the resience tomorrow afternoon at 2:30 o'clock in charge of Rev. A.D. Freden with burial in Aspen Grove cemetery. The body will remain at the Burnett-Wallen funeral home until 10 o'clock tomorrow morning when it will be taken to the residence.
