Obituary
Loren R. "Andy" Anderson, 71, of Burlington, passed away peacefully at 1:26 a.m. on April 15, 2012 in his home. He was surrounded by family as he lost his short, yet courageous battle with cancer. He was born on November 14, 1940 in Burlington, he was the son of Rudolph B. and Helen M. Rudy Anderson. On June 28, 1969 he married Kitty K. Korschgen in West Point, Iowa.
Mr. Anderson was a draftsman at General Electric, retiring in 2000 after 30 years. He was a 1958 graduate of Burlington High School and attended Southeastern Community College. He served in the Army from 1963-1966. Before settling in at G.E. he worked for Sylvania and IAAP. Mr. Anderson was an avid hunter and fisherman, he especially liked to take his grandchildren fishing. He enjoyed bowling and was a sanctioned bowler for nearly 40 years. He kept very busy gardening, raising parakeets and fish, golfing, watching his family's home movies, playing bingo, cooking and traveling with his wife. His retirement allowed him to babysit grandkids and spend time with his entire family. He loved to just visit with people and easily made new friends and cherished every person in his life. He is survived by his wife Kitty of Burlington; three daughters, Heather Harrington of West Point, Dana Upton of Burlington and Susan Perez and her husband Raul Jr. of Burlington; eleven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; one sister, Delpha Jean Davis of Arlington, Texas; his mother in law Anna Mae Korschgen of West Point; several cousins, nieces and nephews, and a lifetime of irreplaceable friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, one sister and a son-in-law.
The memorial funeral service for Mr. Anderson will be 11:00 a.m. Thursday, April 19th in Lunning Chapel. The Rev. Dean Graber will officiate. The Burlington Area Veterans Honor Guard will conduct military rites. The family will receive friends from 9:00 a.m. until the time of services. Inurnment will be held at a later date in Aspen Grove Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations are suggested to Great River Hospice or to the Charity of Donor Choice. According to his wishes, cremation rites have been accorded.
