John Ed Anderson, 41-year-old World war veteran, a native of Mediapolis but a resident of Burlington for the past 14 years, died at his home, 606 Harrison avenue shortly after 6 o'clock last night after four months illness.
Mr. Anderson was born in Mediapolis, October 17, 1892, the son of Mr. and Mrs. August Anderson. He lived in Mediapolis until six months before he entered the army for service during the World war, when he moved to Montana. He was a member of the 91st division, 348th machine gun battalion, Co. D, serving 18 months, half of which was spent overseas. He was gassed in action in Argonne forest and served in the St. Mihiel and several other major engagements.
He was married in Burlington in 1922 to Miss Mary Brandt, who survives him. He was employed at the McConnell company for 12 years as a harness maker giving up his work early this year on account of ill health. He was a member of the Lutheran church at Mediapolis. Besides his wife he is survived by a daughter, Joan, two and a half years old' his father in Mediapolis; a brother Elmer Anderson of Sperry and a sister, Miss Helena Anderson of Chicago. His mother, a brother and a sister preceded him in death.
Funeral services will be held in the Burnett-Wallen funeral home Tuesday afternoon at 2 o'clock with burial in Aspen Grove cemetery.
