John August Anderson, resident of Burlington for 56 years, died at St. Francis hospital Monday at 6:05 p.m. after an illness of 5 weeks.
He was born in Ostergotland, Seden, Oct. 25, 1859 and came to this country in 1888. he settled in Burlington where he married Emma Christina Gustafson Oct. 10, 1888. He was employed as a railroad crossing flagman here and had been retired for 14 years. He was a member of Messiah Lutheran church and Woodmen of the World.
He is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Emma Cornell, Blakesburg, Ia.; 2 sons, Carl Edward Anderson and HArry L. Anderson, both of Burlington, and 2 grandchildren. His wife and one son, Oscar, are dead.
Funeral services will be held at the Burnett-Wallen funeral home Wednesday at 2 p.m. with Rev. Russelll Johnson officiating. Burial will be in Aspen Grove cemetery.
