John Alfred Anderson, 79, native of Sweden, died at Burlington hospital at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday following an extended illness. His residence was at 1605 S. Main street.
Born at Linkoping, Sweden, February 28, 1866, he came to this country in 1887, and in the same year was married to Emma Edmark in Minneapolis. She died in 1939. For 28 years he was a motorman with the city street car company, retiring 16 years ago. He was a member of Messiah Lutheran church, Modern Woodmen of the World, and an honorary member of the Streetcar Men's union.
Surviving are one daughter, Mrs. Clarence Jugenheimer, Burlington, and one brother, Karl Anderson, Sweden. One son, 2 sisters and two brothers are dead.
Services will be held Sunday at 2:30 p.m. at Burnett-Wallen funeral home with Rev. Russell Johnson officiating. Burial will be in Aspen Grove cemetery. The body will be taken to the residence Saturday evening and returned to the funeral home Sunday morning.
