Obituary
Gustave H. Anderson, one of the veterans in the Burlington route train service, passed away at Hannibal, Mo., yesterday morning. Perhaps a month ago his faithful wife was laid away in Aspen Grove. Mr. Anderson was born in Sweden, December 7, 1844 and came to Burlington many years ago. He entered the Burlington railway service in 1866 and was given an engine in 1871, and remained with the road in that capacity to the end of his life. Some 23 years ago, it became necessary to move to Hannibal and that city became the family home, but they always thought of Burlington as their real home, and here they will rest from lives of useful labor. And here many old friends will hold them in kindly remembrance. Mr. Anderson was a member of the Swedish Lutheran church and of the Washington lodge, No.1, IOOF. He was held in high esteem by his fellow workers as well as by the men higher up.
The remains will be brought to Burlington from Hannibal at 9 o'clock Monday morning and there will be services at Prugh's chapel at 10 o'clock.
