Obituary
Burlington mourns another brave, bright young life- a young soldier who did well his duty in camp and who expected to be sent to the other side soon. Elmer H. Anderson of Co. F. 133d infantry, passed away at Camp Cody,N.M. Saturday morning, a pneumonia victim. The remains will be brought home, and the funeral will be held from the Burnett undertaking establishment, the time to be announced later.
Elmer H. Anderson was born in Burlington October 18, 1895. He grew up here and was employed at the Button factory until drafted, when he went to Camp Dodge with the first contingent. From Camp Dodge he was sent to Camp Cody in New Mexico. He was a fine specimen of physical manhood, a lad of excellent habit and was held in high esteem by all who knew him. He was a member of the Harrison Avenue M.E. church.
The young soldier is survived by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Carl I. Anderson, of 211 Harrison avenue; a brother, Clarence Anderson, and two sisters, Mrs. Ford Hartman and Mrs. Charles Woodruff, both of this city. He carried a little life insurance in a local agency and had taken out government insurance.
His last letter home reported him in good health and in good spirits. He spoke of the hard work the company had been doing, and the prospects of being sent over to the other side at an early date. He was an affectionate and dutiful son and a good, loyal citizen of the republic.
