Obituary
John A. Balzer, a former member of the Burlington police force for 15 years and an employee of Leyda Monument company for 11 years, died at his home, 2018 Highland avenue Sunday after at 3:50 o’clock after an extended illness. He was 76 years old and had lived in Burlington all his life.
Mr. Balzer was born here September 23, 1857, and married in Minnesota September 18, 1884, to Miss Martha Person, who survives him. He was a member of the First Evangelical church.
Besides his widow, he is survived by one son, Clarence Balzer of Burlington, and one daughter, Mrs. O. P. Weir of Burlington. Two daughters, one brother, and one sister preceded him in death.
Funeral services will be held at the residence Wednesday afternoon at 2 o’clock in charge of Rev. J.H. Buescher, with burial in Aspen Grove cemetery. The body will be taken to the residence from Burnett-Wallen’s funeral home Wednesday morning at 9 am.
