Roy Russell Applegate, 68, 604 Summer, a resident of Burlington for over 50 years, died Sunday at 2:20 a.m. following an extended illness. Born at Palmer, Neb., on Jan. 10, 1875, he was the son of Mr. and Mrs. James Applegate, and was married to Catherine Abbott in Burlington on Sept.3, 1908. He was a retired salesman of Armour and company with over 30 years service, a veteran of the Spanish-American war, a shriner, and a 32nd degree mason. Surviving are his widow; a son James A., Burlington and a sister Mrs. Belle Widman, Amelia, Neb. Funeral services will be held in Prugh's chapel on Tuesday at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Bernard Miars in charge. Burial will be in Aspen Grove cemetery.
