Carl Edward Anderson, 63, of 538 May avenue, a retired freight handler at the CB&Q freight house, died at 7:15 a.m. Thursdy in his home. Anderson, who retired in 1948 after 33 years service with the railroad, had been in failing health four years. He was a veteran of WWI who served overseas with an army machine gun unit.
He was born Aug. 13, 1889, in Burlington, a son of John and Emma Anderson, and was married to the former Anna Andrew June 16, 1920, in Burlington. Anderson was a member of Williamson memorial United Presbyterian church, Moose lodge and Railroad veterans.
Surviving are his widow; one brother, Harry Anderson, Burlington; a sister, Mrs. Jack Cornell, Burlington; one niece and a nephew. His parents and a brother are dead.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in Prugh's chapel with Rev. Harry Findlay officiating. Burial with militray rites by the Veterans of Foreign wars will be at Aspen grove cemetery.
