Obituary
As a result of eating poisoned walnuts, Alice Anderson, the 12-year-old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. C.A. Anderson of 115 South Gunnison street. died Sunday morning at 8 o'clock at the home of her uncle, C.J. Anderson, near Smithshire, Ill. The remains were brought to Burlington and the funeral will be held tomorrow afternoon at 2:30 o'clock from the family residence.
Mrs. Anderson and daughter had gone to Smithshire, Il. last Wednesday for a visit. On Thursday, Alice and her two cousins indulged in eating walnuts which had been reserved from last year. The day following all three developed symptoms of ptomaine poisoning and a physician was called. All that science could do was done to combat the effect of the oson, but little Alice grew worse and Sunday morning death came. Her cousins were critically ill for a time, but are now recovering.
The dead girl is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. C.A. Anderson, and besides the parents is survived by a brother, Herbert and a sister Hannah. She was born in Burlington July 9, 1896. She attended Saunderson school and intended to return to Burlington to start in here studies this morning. She was a bright, lovable girl and was popular with her playmates. Her death is a sad blow to the family and the sympathy of hundreds of friends is with themin their dark hour.
