Obituary
Mrs. R.C. Waddle, wife of the widely known surveyor, died last night at Burlington hospital at 8:15 o'clock. Mrs. Waddle was operated on a week ago by Dr. Dudley, of Chicago, an eminent surgeon, who came to Burlington for that purpose. For several days the patient's condition was considered hopeful but the disease was too deep-seated to respond to any improvement as the result of the operation, and Mrs. Waddle passed away last night, her husband being at the bedside. The deceased was in her fifty-second year and was born at Crawfordsville, Washinton county, Iowa, her maiden name being Agnes Hannum. Mr. and Mrs. Waddle were married at Crawfordsville in 1877 and at once came to Des Moines county to live making their home up to three years ago in the country southwest of the city. In 1905 Mr. and Mrs. Waddle removed to this city, and have been living at No. 409 South Gunnison street. Mrs. Waddle was a conscientious member of the United Presbyterian church, and was widely esteemed for her charitable character. Her hundreds of friends will deeply mourn the death of this good woman. Mr. and Mrs. Waddle had no children. The deceased is survived by her husband, two brothers, William Hannum, of Idaho, and James Hannum, living in Kansas. Also, by a cousin, Mrs. Frank Watson, of Burlington, and an uncle Joseph Hannum, living near Mediapolis. The funeral arrangements will be announced later.
