Andrew F. Andersen, 88, formerly of 1025 S. Plane, died Sunday at St. Francis hospital where he had been a patient for 15 months. mr. Andersen, for more than 25 years a life underwriter for New York Life in Burlington, was born Aug. 26, 1878, in Copenhagen, Denmark. he came to the United States when he was eight years old. Prior to his insurance career, he was in the banking business here and in Mediapolis.
He was the son of Nels and Christina Kasner Andersen. He married LAura Rudiger Aug. 4, 1908, at Council Bluffs. She died Jan. 11, 1966.
Mr. Andersen was a member of First Presbyterian church and for many years was treasurer of the church; he was a 32nd degree Mason, member of Kiwanis Club. The National Institute of Life Underwriters and a former elder of his church.
Surviving: Three sons, Eugene F. Andersen, Momence, IL; Paul A., Marion; John A., Geneva, IL, five daughters, Mrs. Donald Freidman and MRs. Charles Cooper, both of Burlington; Mrs. Joe Beavo, Ft. Myers, FL; Mrs. Alex Peale, Silver Springs, Md., and Mrs. William Purcell, Norman, OK; 27 grandchildren and one great grandchild.
Services: Wednesday at 2 p.m. Prugh's, the Rev. Roscoe Wolvington, Burial: Aspen Grove.
