Obituary
Edward Allen, a well known colored resident, sucumbed to the white plague at his home, No 1926 Summer street. He was born in the southland forty-four years ago, and had long been a resident of this city. During many years he was head waiter at the Hotel Delano. He was well known and well liked, a modest, well-informed and unobtrusive man, who as a rule attended strictly to his own affairs. He is survived by the widow, Mrs Grace M Allen, a graduate of the Burlington High school, who at one time conducted an industrial school for colored children in this city and has of late been busy as the financial agent of the Ambidexter institute at Springfield, Il. Mrs Allen was in Louisville, KY when sad news came to her.
