Funeral services for Axel F. Adolphson, 67, of 1910 South Fourteenth street will be held at the Burnett-Wallen funeral home at 2 o'clock Wednesday afternoon. Mr, Adolphson died at Burlington hospital Sunday afternoon as the result of injuries received when he fell from an automobile on No 61 at Spring Grove an hour earlier.
Mr. Adolphson was riding on the running board of an automobile driven by August Krekel of 213 Ballard street, West Burlington, who with his wife and four children were traveling toward Wever. Two automobiles were approaching from the opposite direction, the first driven by Ernie Muenzenmeier, Burlington, and the second by Charles Sloane, of Fort Madison, according to a report to Sheriff Delbert Murray who investigated the case yesterday.
The Sloane car apparently struck the one in front and then hit the Krekel car, the jar causing Adolphson to fall to the road and strike his head, Krekel told officers.
