Mrs. Sarah Ann Ballantyne, life long resident of this city, died at the residence, 808 North Seventh Street, Tuesday morning at 10:40 after an extended illness.
Born in Burlington June 16, 1858, the daughter of Hortan and Ann Bailey, she was united in marriage in 1882 in this city to Hecto Ballantyne. He preceded her in death in 1929.
Surviving are two sons, George of San Jose, Calif., and Norman at home; one sister, Mrs. Mary Mocom of Los Angeles; three grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Mrs. Ballantyne was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, the Sarah Ballantyne circle of the church being named in her honor and in recognition of her long and faithful service in the church. Her sterling qualities were well known and she was loved by a wide circle of friends.
Funeral services will be held in Prugh’s Chapel, Thursday afternoon at 2 o’clock. Dr. Archibald Cardle will officiate. Interment will be at Aspen Grove cemetery.
