Evelyn Mae Schroeder, 82, of Burlington, died at 11:30 p.m. Tuesday, June 26, 2007, at Great River Medical Center's Klein Center. Born February 13, 1925, in Burlington, she was the daughter of Herbert and Cecil Bradfield Bliss. On August 15, 1953, she married Robert Alan Schroeder in Honolulu, Hawaii. He died in February of 1997. Mrs. Schroeder was a Navy veteran of the Korean War, serving as a flight nurse. She was a Burlington High School graduate, and received her Bachelor's Degree from the University of Iowa. She was a registered nurse. Survivors include one daughter, Stacy Schroeder of Burlington; one sister, Betty Setterberg of Burlington; and one brother, Bob Holcomb of Minnesota. Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, one brother and one sister. According to Mrs. Schroeder's wishes, her body has been cremated and there will be no visitation or service. Private family inurnment will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery at a later date. A memorial has been established for Des Monies County Humane Scoiety.
