Obituary

William Baker, a veteran of the civil war, and a well-known resident of Burlington passed away at the soldiers’ home at Quincy, Ill., at 5 o’clock yesterday evening.
He was a native of Germany and was born October 18, 1842. He was married to Miss Anna Zinder, August 18, 1866. She passed away February 15, 1906. Mr. Baker is survived by the following children: Mr. Ben Mark, Burlington; Mrs. Roy Appleby, of Davenport; Louis Baker, of LaGrange, Ill.; Fred and Charles Baker, Burlington; Miss Esther Baker, of Chicago, and Walter Baker of Burlington. Deceased was a tinner by trade, a skilled workman and a good citizen, who will be held in kindly remembrance by all who knew him.
The funeral of William Baker, a veteran of the Civil war and an old resident of Burlington, was held from the home of his daughter, Mrs. B. H. Mark, No. 711 South Ninth street, yesterday afternoon March 6, 1916. Members of Matthies Post, of the Grand Army of the Republic and many old friends, gave him last honors. Interment was made at Aspen Grove Cemetery.
