Robert Warren Baker, 80, of Boulder, Colorado, died Monday, December 22, 2008, in the Boulder Community Hospital, Boulder, Colorado. Robert was born February 1, 1928, the son of Norval E. Baker and Ruth Peterson. Robert served in the Air Force during the Korean War. He was a graduate of Rutgers University, Rutgers, New Jersey. He was President and General Manager of Witte Paint Co., Witte Drug Stores. He was a member and past President of the Burlington Golf Club, and was also a member and served on the Board of Directors of the New Crystal Lake Club. He was a former Chairman of the Des Moines County Republican Party. He served on the Board of Directors of the Burlington Area Chamber of Commerce and Burlington Area Development Corporation. Robert was also a member of St. Paul's Catholic Church. Robert is survived by his wife Margaret of Boulder, Colorado; four daughters, Susan (Rick) Swanson of East Greenwich, Rhode Island, Ann (Craig) Black of Earlham, Iowa, Julie (Joe) Piazza of Lake Forest, Illinois, and Karen (Tom) Rogers of Naperville, Illinois; four sons, Stephen (Jane) Baker of Mishawaka, Indiana, Alan (Mamie) Baker of Omaha, Nebraska, Bruce (Kelli) Baker of Des Moines, Iowa, David (Maureen) Baker of Denver, Colorado; two step-daughters, Ann Tod (Doug) Stewart of Denver, Colorado and Susan (Tom) Stahl of Denver, Colorado; fifteen grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; and first wife Mary Ann Baker of Burlington. Robert was preceded in death by his parents, one sister and one brother. No formal visitation has been scheduled prior to Saturday's service. A memorial has been established for Sacred Heart of Mary Catholic Church of Boulder, Colorado.
