Obituary
Sister Hannah Baker was born March 23, 1849. She became a member of Protection lodge, No. 3, D. of H., some eight years ago. She was a hard and enthusiastic worker, ever ready to sacrifice for the benefit of the order she so ably represented. We mourn the loss of Sister Baker and bring tribute to her memory.
We had hoped that she might be restored again to perfect health. We looked in vain for the hoped improvement.
Life was very sweet to our sister, with a comfortable home and loving family. She fain would have lingered a little longer, but (in her own words), “I am ready, only waiting; my work on earth is done,” and in her last few weeks her Bible was her greatest comfort, and when God said come, dear sister, your work is finished, she closed her weary eyes to earth, only to open them at the jasper gate, where she gave the password that gained her admittance to the temple not made by hands.
“She is not dead, but gone before,” And when we cross that golden strand, may we find her just inside the door, and be the first to grasp her hand.
