James "Jim" E. Augsburger, 74, of Burlington, died at 7:10 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 11, 2004, at Henry County Health Center in Mount Pleasant. Born June 14, 1930, in Burlington, he was the son of Lucas Port and Julia May McBee Augburger. On Nov. 28, he married Bonny J. Cumpton in Na-shua. Mr. Augsburger owned and operated Jim's Shoe Box and Neff's Shoes for 18 years and Granny's Bake Shop for five years. After retirement, he went into motel maintenance and gardening. He was a graduate of Burlington High School. He was a Korean War Air Force veteran. He was a member of American Legion Post 52 of Burlington, a past member of the Eagles and Moose lodges and was a gold card member of the Burlington/West Burlington Area Chamber of Commerce. He collected Christmas ornaments and lights, enjoyed boating, water skiing,flowers, gardening and yard work. He also remodeled and refinished furniture. he enjoyed music and summers at the cabin in Minnesota. Survivors include his wife; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister and one brother. Visitation will be from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.Thursday at Lunning Chapel. There will be no family visitation. The funeral for Mr. Augsburger will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Lunning Chapel, with the Revs. Patrick Hilgendorf and Chris Thomas officiating. Burial will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery. A memorial has been established for the American Lung Association.
