Mrs. Jennie M. Bacher, 77, widow of Philip Bacher and resident of Burlington for 60 years, died at her home, 862 Spring Street, at 1 o'clock yesterday afternoon. Her health had been poor for some time, but she had been confined to her bed only three days at the time of her death.
Mrs. Bacher was born in Baldwinsville, NY, April 23, 1852, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. George Hickok. Later she moved to Chicago with her parents and in 1871 the family came to Burlington, which has remained Mrs. Bacher's home. She was married in Burlington, Jan. 25, 1876. Mr. Bacher died 31 years ago.
Four daughters and four sons survive. The daughters are Mr. Ed. Fischer of Burlington, Mrs. J.R. Weston of Chicago, and Mrs. D.D. Blake of Ottumwa, Miss Mabel Bacher at home. The sons are; F.A. Bacher of Detroit, F.F. Bacher of Burlington, George, and Jack Bacher at home. A sister, Mrs. Kittie Eaton of Davenport, a brother, George Hickok of Memphis, Tenn., four grandchildren, and one great-grandchild also survive.
Mrs. Bacher was a member of First Evangelical church and of the Woman's Relief corps. Although she was active in both of these organizations, her chief interests were in her home. Funeral services will be held at the home at 2 o'clock Monday afternoon in charge of the Rev. J.H. Buescher. Burial will be in Aspen Grove cemetery.
Friends may call at Unterkircher Funeral home today. The body will be taken home from there Monday morning.
