Obituary

Burlington today mourns the loss of one of its oldest and most prominent teachers, Mrs. Rachel Brown Andrews, who died at 11 o'clock this morning at the home of her niece, Mrs. Minnie Bischoff, 606 South Garfield avenue, following a long illness. Rachel Brown, the name by which she will be remembered by the middle aged generation in Burlington, whom she taught, was born to Pennsylvania and came to Iowa at an early age. her childhood was spent in Denmark, Ia., but later she removed to Burlington where she taught in many of the schools, her longest period of service being in the old South Hill school. She was married in Burlington in 1893 to Newton Andrews of St. Joseph, Mo. and they lived in Chicago for four years. Her husband preceded her n death in 1900. She was a member of the First Baptist church of Burlington.
She is survived by one brother and two sisters. They are: W.F. Brown of Keokuk, Mrs. Kivvie Dunbar of Winchester, Mo., and Mrs.Mary B. Armstrong of Burlington. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.Funeral arrangements have not been made.
