Obituary
Al Bokenkamp, a lifelong resident of Burlington, and a man well-known and highly esteemed in this city, passed away at St. Francis Hospital last evening at 7:30 after a brief illness. Mr. Bokencamp’s death will be noted with sincere regret by his host of friends and acquaintances here. He possessed a sunny disposition, and his many fine qualities made him a general favorite.
Mr. Bokenkamp was born in Burlington September 4, 1866, and was in his fifty-second year at the time of his death. Recently he had been proprietor of a soft drink parlor. He is survived by a brother, Henry Bokenkamp, and two sisters, Mrs. AM Taeger and Mrs. John Roth. The decedent was a member of the Eagles and the Hawkeye Natives.
The funeral of Al Bokenkamp was held from the home of his brother, 1214 Angular Street Dec. 5, 1917, with interment in Aspen Grove Cemetery. Many friends were there to pay him the last honors.
