Melbaline "Melba" Hostetter, 89, of West Burlington, died Tuesday, November 11, 2014, at her home.
Born February 15, 1925, in Burlington, she was the daughter of Chester L. and Effie M. Hanes Hills. On October 5, 1946, she married John David Hostetter in Burlington.
Melba worked at the Iowa Army Ammunition Plant, as a homemaker until her children were raised, and retired from Winegard in 1981 where she worked as an antenna assembler for 15 years.
She loved to travel and enjoyed living in the country and seeing the wildlife. Even though she had Alzheimer's, her husband took care of her at home until the very end. She loved her family very much.
Survivors include her husband, John; one son, John David (Diane) Hostetter, Jr. of Burlington; one daughter, Pamela Ann Bergquist of West Burlington; four grandsons, Roy Hostetter and John E. (Billie) Hostetter, both of Burlington, Frank (Amy) Hostetter of West Burlington, and Brian (Lydia) Bergquist of Danville; four great-granddaughters, three great-grandsons, and one great-great-granddaughter; two sisters, Marcidell "Marcie" Spearman of Burlington and Marilyn Shipley of Kansas City, MO; and 17 nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother, one step-brother, and one son-in-law.
Cremation has been entrusted to the care of Thielen Crematory.
There will be no visitation or services. Private burial will be held in Aspen Grove Cemetery.
A memorial has been established.
