Obituary

Fred Phillips Brooks, 51, of 512 Sweney Avenue, a machinist at the CB&Q roundhouse in West Burlington, died at 1:25 am Saturday at Burlington Hospital after being in failing health for several years.
He was born Oct. 19, 1898, in Burlington, the son of James W. and Lilly Roads Brooks, and was married here to the former Bertha Smith Jan. 30, 1930. Brooks was a member of Christ Episcopal church, Episcopal Men of Iowa, and the Railroad Veterans.
Surviving are his widow, a daughter by a previous marriage, Mrs. Catherine Louise Levenberg of Chicago, and 2 grandchildren.
Services will be at 2 pm on Monday at Christ Episcopal Church. The body will be taken at 1 pm Monday from Prugh’s chapel to the church, where it will lie in state until the services. Burial will be in Aspen Grove.
