Mrs. Shirley Carlene Buckles, 76, of Burlington went to be with her Lord at 7:30 a.m. Thursday, April 10, 2014, at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria, Illinois.
Born October 6, 1937 in Oxford Junction, Iowa, she was the daughter of Faye and Myrtle (Boots) West. She moved to Burlington when she was four years old. On February 9, 1964 she married Jerry Buckles in Burlington. He passed away November 2, 2009. She was also preceded in death by her 12 year old son, Jeffery Buckles in 1985 and her 48 year old son, Joseph Buckles on March 2, 2014; her parents; two brothers, Charles and Rolland West; one sister, Nancy West and sister-in-law, DeeDee West.
Surviving are three brothers, Robert (Barbara) West of North Carolina, Carl West of Texas and Tom (Cindy) West of Moline, Illinois; one sister, Loretta (Harry) Eisenmann of Peoria, Illinois; sister-in-law, Donna West of Nevada and many nieces and nephews.
The memorial funeral service for Mrs. Buckles will be 10 a.m. Saturday, April 26th, at Lunning Chapel. Inurnment will be at a later date in Aspen Grove Cemetery. Cremation has been accorded.
