Obituary
Last night at 9:45 Mrs Anna Allen an old resident of Burlington, passed away at the family home, NO 721 South Seventh street. The deceased was the wife of Robert E. Allen, en employeee in the internal revenue office in this city.
Mrs. Allen had been an invalid for some time and her death while not unexpected has caused widespread sorrow among her large number of friends in this city. She was a woman of rare virtues and her sweet and gentle character endeared her to all. Mrs. Allen was an ardent member of Christ Episcopal church and throughout her life was an earnest worker in all charitable deeds.
Mrs. Allen was born in Portlan, Me and came west to Mt. Pleasant at an early age where on November 22, 1860, she was married to Robert Allen. Three children were born, all of whom are deceased. Two died in infancy and one son, Charles, died at San Antonio, TX many years ago.
Beside her husband, Mrs. Allen is survived by one sister, Mrs. Clara H. Home, of this city, and one brother John E. Clark, of Boston, Mass.
The funeral will be be held tomorrow afternoon at 2:30 at the family home.
