Mr. Walter Frederick Brunken, 94, of Burlington died at 4:10 a.m. Monday, January 12, 2015, at Burlington Care Center.
Born April 10, 1920 in Danville, he was the son of Frederick John and Emma Esther (Eidemiller) Brunken. On February 28, 1945 he married Marian Viola Hanson in Macon, Georgia. She preceded him in death on October 23, 2012.
Mr. Brunken was a Danville High School graduate. He was an Army Air Corps veteran serving at the rank of corporal.
Mr. Brunken was the owner and operator of Brunken Motor Co. in New London for 40 years, retiring in 1994.
Mr. Brunken was a lifelong member and elder in the Burlington Seventh-Day-Adventist Church. During his life he enjoyed singing, gardening, rebuilding cars and woodworking.
Survivors include one daughter, Susan Dixon of Newburyport, Massachusetts; two granddaughters, Amy Dixon of Newburyport and Allison (Ryan) Montecalvo of Dover, New Hampshire; two great grandsons, Tyler and Tucker of Dover and several nieces and nephews.
Besides his wife, he was preceded in death by three sisters, Leona Schmidt, Esther Gillaspie and Hazel Ballinger and one brother, Herbert Brunken
The funeral service for Mr. Brunken will be 11 a.m. Friday, January 16th, at Lunning Chapel with Pastor Joe Arellano officiating. Interment will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery. Friends may call after 9 a.m. Friday and the family will receive friends for one hour prior to the time of service.
