Dorothy Lovelle York, 95, of Burlington, died at 7:23 PM Saturday, October 8, 2005, at Rosebush Gardens Health Center. Born June 3, 1910 in Enid, OK, she was the daughter of Homer e. and Cleo Bunnel Brunk. On July 5, 1929, she married Owen Edwin York in Bloomfield. He died May 1963. Mrs. York was a homemaker and worked briefly at the Iowa Army Ammunition Plant. She was of the Protestant faith. She was an excellent seamstress, a wonderful cook and everyone loved her pot roast. She enjoyed playing cards, bingo and was an avid gardener. Survivors include two sons, M. Edwin York of Burlington, and Daniel Lee York of Round Lake Beach, Il; one daughter, Peggy L. Schulz of Burlington; nine grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, one brother and one sister. As per the request of Mrs. York her body has been cremated. The Graveside Committal Service and Inurnment for Mrs. York will be 2:00 PM Saturday October 15, a Aspen Grove Cemetery with the Reverend Carl J. Engstrom officiating. A memorial service will be held at a later date in the Savannah, IA Cemetery. A memorial has been established for The Dorothy York Foundation for health-care research and education.
