Obituary
Mr. Eliza J. Webster, 87, formerly of 707 N. Eighth street, widow of M. B. Webster, died at 11:30 o'clock last night at the J.S. Baughman home. 523 Division street, where she had been making her home during her final illness, which extended over about four and one-half months. Mrs. Webster has been a resident of Burlington for 80 years. Eliza J. Boyer was born in Salem, Ia., in November, 1841, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Peter Boyer. When she was a very small girl, her parents moved to Burlington and she came with them. All her life, with the exception of the first few years at her birthplace, she spent as a resident of this city. She was married comparatively late in life to M.B. Webster who died about three years after their marriage. There were no children, and with the exception of nieces and nephews who live out of town, she has no surviving relatives. During her residence in this city, Mrs. Webster became active in the work of various civic and social organizations. She was a member of the First Methodist, church, was associated with the Women's Relief corp of the Daughters of the American Revolution, and was a member of the Hawkeye Natives auxiliary. Funeral services will be held in Prugh's chapel Sunday afternoon, at 2 o'clock, in charge of Rev. W. H. Spence, with burial in Aspen Grove cemetery.
