William C. "Bill" Bruner, 78, of Moberly, MO, formerly of Burlington, died Friday, February 5, 2010, at his home. Born September 6, 1931, in Biggsville, IL, he was the son of John Clay and Voda G. Oberman Bruner. On July 18, 1954, he married Shirley Hofmann in Burlington. Mr. Bruner worked for Penick and Ford Co. in Cedar Rapids, and Kacena Co. and Raid Quarries, both in Burlington. He became a partner in Lincoln Sand and Gravel in Lincoln, Ill., and Moberly Stone in Huntsville, MO, retiring in 2000. He graduated from high school in 1950. He served in the Army from 1952 to 1954. He was a member of St. Luke United Church of Christ. He was past president of Moberly Lions Club, served on the board of Randolph County Sheltered Workshop, and was a lifetime member of and past president of Missouri Limestone Producers. Survivors include his wife; two sons, Tom Bruner of New York and Dave Bruner of Kansas City, MO; one daughter, Kathy Cagni of Hobe Sound, Fla.; two grandchildren; one sister, Betty Moore of Lexington, KY; Nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, and one brother. Visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m. Wednesday at Hass-Thielen Funeral Home in Burlington, where the family will receive friends. The funeral for Mr. Bruner will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at St. Luke United Church of Christ, with the Revs. Robert "Bob" Anderson and Vicki J. Engelmann officiating. Burial will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery in Burlington. Memorials have been established for St. Luke United Church of Christ and Randolph County Sheltered Workshop in Moberly, Mo.
