Obituary
At 5:15 o'clock, Sunday afternoon, March 31, occurred the death of Chris Ebert at his home, 1019 Garden street. Mr. Ebert has been in poor health for the last two years with heart trouble. Three months ago he was compelled to give ;up work. He failed rapidly until four weeks ago when he improved considerably. Friday he had a relapse, but rallied again Saturday and Sunday. He was up and in good spirits, until a few minutes before his death. Mr. Ebert was born January 2,, 1856 at Schweiger, Wuertenburg, Germany. He left Germany in 1867 and came to Burlington where he made his home up to the time of his death. He was united in marriage to Miss Frederika Ewinger. This union was blessed with five children, an infant son having preceded him in death. To mourn his death are his wife and four children, Nellie, John, Emma and frieda. Two brothers and one sister Mr. Henry Ebrt and Mrs. Anna Wiederin of this city and Jake Ebert of Wapello. Mr. Ebert conducted a cigar factory on Third street for a number of years. He was a charter member of the Cigar Makers Union No.72, a member of Lincoln Lodge of the A.O.U.W. and United Singers of Burlington. Announcement of the funeral will be made later.
