Mr. John Frederick Wemmie, 73, of 1223 Linden, died Wednesday at 1:45 a.m. at Mercy hospital following a brief illness. He was born Nov. 17, 1878, in Germany, the son of Mr. and Mrs. John R. Wemmie. His first wife, Elizabeth Schmidt, died in 1931, and in 1934 he married Louise Schmidt Steinbrecher. She died May 21, 1963. He was of the Lutheran Faith and was a member of the Eagles and Turners Society. He was a retired painter. Surviving are:one daughter, Clara M. Paxson, Burlington; two grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Two daughters and one son by his first marriage died earlier. Services will be Saturday at 2 p.m. in Prugh's Chapel, Rev. Earl Meissner officiating. Burial will be in Aspen Grove cemetery.
