Mrs. Leora Janet Brown, 93, of New London died at 12:40 a.m. Sunday, September 28, 2014, at the Danville Care Center.
Born January 1, 1921 in Kingston, Iowa, she was the daughter of Charles Lewis and Allena Julia Wertz Oetken. On June 21, 1942 she married Jack Clayton Brown in Kahoka, Missouri. He preceded her in death.
Mrs. Brown worked as a factory worker at Midwest Biscuit Co., retiring in 1953 after 13 years due to illness. She was a member of Oak Street Baptist Church since she was 10 years old.
Survivors include one son, Ronald C. Brown of New London; one daughter, Sharon K. Johnson of Mt. Pleasant; one sister, Lorraine Tracy of Whittier, California; seven grandchildren; several great grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one brother, and one sister.
The graveside committal service for Mrs. Brown will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, October 1st, in Aspen Grove Cemetery with Pastor Gary Karas officiating.
Memorials have been established for the Danville Care Center and Oak Street Baptist Church.
