Helen Lucille Wineinger Brown, 95, of West Burlington, died at 8:10 a.m. Thursday, November 5, 2009, at Great River Hospice House in West Burlington. Born August 6, 1914, she was the daughter of Grover and Belva Thornington Wineinger. On May 19, 1933, she married Frederick James Brown in Rock Island, IL. He died on October 15, 1999. Mrs. Brown was an Avon distributor for several years. She was a loving homemaker. She enjoyed playing bridge, and was feisty, fun-loving, and witty. She was affiliated with Trinity Lutheran Church. Survivors include two sons, Dennis Brown of Burlington, and Richard Brown of New Port Richey, Fla.; seven grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; and her special friend since childhood, Helen Liles. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, one sister, and one great-grandchild. Visitation with family present will be at 10 to 11 a.m. at Prugh's Chapel. The funeral service for Mrs. Brown will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Prugh's Chapel, with the Rev. Eric Swanson officiating. Interment will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery. Memorials have been established for Trinity Lutheran Church and Great River Hospice House.
