Floide E. Baumgartner, 89, of 301 West VanWeiss Blvd., died 9 am Thursday, Jan. 26, 1989, at his home.
Born April 10, 1899, in Nemaha County, Kan., he was the son of Alexander and Jane Jonach Baumgartner. He married Lillian Nelson Sept. 16, 1929, in Berwyn, Ill. She died Feb 3, 1988.
He was employed as a payroll clerk with the West Burlington Shops before retiring in 1966. He was a member and former treasurer of the West Burlington United Methodist Church had served as councilman and acting mayor of the city of West Burlington and was a past president of the West Burlington School Board.
Surviving are one son, Byron Baumgartner, West Burlington; five sisters, Eva Sherwood, Joy, Ill., Jane Baumgartner, Pheonix, Airz., Louise Hanni, Bern, Kan., Mae Gifford, Saberha, Kan., and Sadie Hailey, Topeka, Kan.; one brother, Alec Baumgartner, Houston, Texas; and four grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 7 to 8 pm today at Lunning Chapel.
The service for Mr. Baumgartner will be 10 am Saturday at Lunning Chapel with the Rev. John Cornish officiating. Burial will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery.
