Obituary

Zachariah K. Bonar died at 1:30 this morning after an illness of several months.
The oldest of eight children of George H. and Sara J. (Tonkinson) Bonar, he was born near Danville, Ia., Aug. 8, 1853. His parents were among pioneer Des Moines County residents.
Mr. Bonar was united in marriage with Mary Ursula Clark at Danville, Oct 4, 1877. To this union was born a daughter, Addie Belle, who survives.
The family home has been at 1620 S. 12th Street for many years, the Bonars having resided in Burlington for 65 years.
Mr. Bonar was long a well-known teamster here until compelled by illness to give up this work. He was a member of the Hawkeye Natives Society and of Grace Methodist Church.
Two brothers, C.B. and John Bonar, reside in Bloomfield, Ia., and he was preceded in death by three brothers and two sisters.
Funeral services will be held at Prugh’s Chapel Thursday afternoon at 2 o’clock., conducted by the Rev. E.L. Stone, pastor of Grace Church. Interment will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery.
