Michael Brooks, former Shelby County, Indiana councilman, passed away Saturday, January 4, 2014 at his home in West Melbourne, Florida. He was the founder and prior owner of Brooks Insurance, Shelbyville and a former resident of Burlington, Iowa.
He is survived by his wife, Lynne Brooks of West Melbourne, daughter and son in law Jennifer and James of Oviedo, Florida, son and daughter in law Christopher and Julie of Sherwood, Oregon, 5 grandchildren, 2 step-grandchildren, one great-grandson and three brothers Tom of Cedar Falls, Iowa, John of Green Valley, Arizona and Dan of La Salle, Illinois.
He was a member of the American Legion in Shelbyville and Groveland, Florida Masonic Lodge, Elks Lodge and Azan Shrine in Melbourne, FL and the Scottish Rite.
