Obituary

Herman Biklen, 64, died at 9:30 am today in Burlington hospital after an extended illness. He was brought to the hospital Monday night from Wapello where he had made his money in recent years.
He was born in Burlington on Jan. 3, 1877, the son of Charles H. and Caroline Biklen, and for years was in business at the corner of Fifth and Jefferson streets. His father for years operated the Biklen Bonanza store on Jefferson street. He married Catherine Carston, Keokuk, who preceded him in death.
Surviving are a son, Charles of Wapello; one grandson, Barry; and a sister, Mrs. Philip Blaufuss of Burlington, and several nieces and nephews. Besides his wife, he was preceded in death by two sisters and a brother.
The body was removed to the Burnett-Wallen funeral home and later taken to the residence in Wapello.
Funeral services for Herman Biklen, 64, will be held in the chapel at Aspen Grove Cemetery Thursday at 2 pm. The body will be brought directly to the chapel from Wapello. Burial will be in the cemetery.
